Jan Jones was born in Yorkshire, trained in York School of Art and lived and worked for many years in Wales.
She has been invited to take part in many exhibitions throughout the country, including the Mall galleries and her paintings have been shown at the Royal Academy for a number of years.
Jan's work can be seen in private and corporate collections worldwide. She was a winner in the "Not the Turner Prize" competition sponsored by the Daily Mail.
Jan's first love is portraiture, she was a student of Leonard Boden R.P. the great man having encouraged her to seek her career in portraiture. More recently she has struck out in new directions, exploring figurative, still life
and and landscape using a variety of materials.
She still finds the freedom of contemporary painting a perfect foil for the more disciplined genre of portraiture.

I paint in many styles and different media, from oil-paints to acrylics, watercolours to pen and ink. I enjoy experimenting with textures and letting the media guide me into new horizons.
